ASSOCIATE PLANNER (GIS)

NATURE OF WORK



This is advanced professional GIS planning work in the conduct of planning activities and operations. Work involves GIS responsibilities for the Division and other County agencies, including special mapping projects, development and updates of GIS coverages and geodatabases, associated databases and graphical materials, and development of GIS applications, including the development of Internet and Intranet mapping applications. Familiarity with Oracle ArcSDE and ArcIMS desired. Candidate will perform related work as needed. Employee works with a high degree of independence, and is expected to exercise a substantial degree of professional judgement in the performance of assignments.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



A Master's Degree in geography, urban planning or related field and two (2) years experience in responsible planning work, including at least one (1) year experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong analytical ability is required. Candidate must exhibit experience with Arc/Info and ArcView. Experience in Remote Sensing and Digital Image Analysis techniques a plus, but not required.
